Katherine Ellin, PhD, MSW, DTR is a licensed clinical psychologist and AASECT* certified sex therapist and supervisor with over 30 years of clinical experience. Currently, Dr. Ellin’s private practice in Cambridge, MA, focuses on intimacy and sexuality. She provides individual and couples therapy, and clinical supervision and consultation for psychotherapists. Dr. Ellin has previously served as Clinical Director, Director of Wraparound Services, and Director of Training at the Children’s Community Support Collaborative/Home for Little Wanderers, and held positions at the Institute for Sexuality and Intimacy, the Solomon Carter Fuller Intensive Residential Treatment Program for Adolescents, the Trauma Center at HRI/Arbour, the Mental Health Clinic of City College (CUNY), the Counseling Center at the CUNY Graduate Center and at South Beach Psychiatric Center. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the City University of New York (CUNY), completed a clinical internship at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center/Harvard Medical School and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has advanced training in sex therapy, couples therapy and trauma-focused therapy. Her clinical work integrates psychodynamic thinking, attachment theory and research, cognitive behavioral techniques, solution-focused therapy and family system approaches. An awareness of the mind-body connection is central to her clinical work, reflecting her dance therapy training and many years of yoga practice. She founded and directed the Time Trade Circle, a non-profit organization that helps individuals connect to create meaningful community by using service exchanges, and serves on the board of Our Spirit, a web-based program that spreads positive messages of self-acceptance for LGBTQ youth.
